Antique Victorian Beehive String Box
DescriptionThis is a lovely example of an antique Victorian String Box. It is made of a very heavy wood which could be lignum vitae or ebony and is of a beehive design with a removable lid which screws very slightly into the base. There is a hole at the side for the string, edged in a white substance, probably bone.
It measures 5 1/2 inches high and 4 inches wide.
It is in good condition, the only restorations are a new post to support the string and a small white knob replaced at the top. It is an attractive box and would be a good addition to a collection,
