This is an antique chignon type hair comb in what I believe to be tortoiseshell or a composition. It is curved, measures approximately 3 inches wide and 6 inches high (12.5 x 7.5 cms.). It is in excellent condition with a good shine and a good example of a hair ornament of this era. This is an attractive and useful accessory and is very wearable.

Antique Edwardian Haircomb,tortoiseshell, bakelite
This is an elegant hatpin of the Edwardian era. The head is made in silver, in the form of a loose knot and marked 0.925 with a triangle and a letter K. The pin is just over 11 inches long (29 cms.)and there are a few slight rust patches on the steel pin, but otherwise the pin is in very good condition. It would be great to wear with a period costume or for a collection.

Antique Edwardian Silver Hatpin in form of a Knot
This is a lovely little souvenir fan made of I think celluloid or bakelite, threaded with cream ribbon. the sticks are perforated in an attractive pattern and it has a loop in the same material. It is inscribed 'Souvenir of Niagara'. The fan is just under 5 inches long and 3/4 inch wide at the widest part. It is in good condition, the only slight fault is that I think the ribbon has been re-glued at one end as seen in the photo. A sweet memento of a famous beauty spot and a lovely gift!

Vintage Souvenir Fan, Niagara Falls, 30s
This is a beautiful example of an antique handkerchief, of the Victorian era with extensive whitework embroidery around the edge and in the corners. The design consists of dainty sprays of flowers and leaves and extends on all sides into the narrow border of Valenciennes lace. The name Gertrude is embroidered on one corner. It is pale cream in colour. There are some holes in the fabric, which can be seen in the photographs, but this is such an excellent example of the fine intricate embroidery of the period that it is still a collectable item. The handkerchief measures about 17 1/2 inches (44.5 cms,) square and because of its size could be termed a neckerchief.

Antique Victorian Embroidered Handkerchief
This is a beautiful small reticule or draw string bag dating from the early 19th century. it is almost square in shape, and entirely covered with tiny beads of gold and pearly white in a very simple design of tiny four petalled flowers on a plain ground. It has a fringe of double strings of the same tiny beads and metal rings round the top, through which the silk ribbon is threaded. It is lined in light weight white silk. The outside of the bag is in excellent condition with no damage and the ribbon is intact. The lining is good, except for some wear in several places where it is attached at the top. However this does not detract from its general appearance, which is good. This would be an interesting addition to a collection.

Antique Reticule or Bag, early 19th C, beaded
This is a beautiful example of a cotton handkerchief in what is commonly described as Appenzell work, hand embroidered on cotton in silk in very fine stitches in flowers and swirls. There is a variety of stitches, including satin stitch, pulled thread and french knot, and the edge is scalloped. The drawn on design can still be seen as the handkerchief is unused. This type of embroidery is a famous Swiss type but it is difficult to say where this particular piece was made, it could be Swiss, Asian or Madeiran. However the standard of workmanship is very high indeed. The handkerchief measures 30 cms (approx 12 inches) square. This is a lovely piece and valuable for a collection, or indeed for bridal wear.
