This is an attractive and rare pair of antique glove stretchers made of wood, probably beech, dating from around the 1890s to Edwardian times. They are made in three sections which was to facilitate their use in drying gloves after washing. Leather gloves were difficult to wash and tend to shrink and crinkle, so these stretchers were inserted to keep their shape as they dried.
They both have turned handles and are made in three sections which slide in separately into the gloves.
They are in excellent condition, except that, as can be seen in the last photo, one section on the left hand does not slide out and I am reluctant to force it. They would make a welcome addition to a collection of treen or articles in domestic use during this period.

This is a lovely example of an antique Victorian String Box. It is made of a very heavy wood which could be lignum vitae or ebony and is of a beehive design with a removable lid which screws very slightly into the base. There is a hole at the side for the string, edged in a white substance, probably bone.
It measures 5 1/2 inches high and 4 inches wide.
It is in good condition, the only restorations are a new post to support the string and a small white knob replaced at the top. It is an attractive box and would be a good addition to a collection,

This is a beautiful antique paper knife/letter opener in wood with a design of chrysanthemums on the handle which is probably inlaid with boxwood. It is very finely made and finished. I wonder whether it is of Japanese in origin - it has an oriental elegance about it and of course the flower is a chrysanthemum.
It measures 8 inches long and 1 inch wide at the handle. It shows signs of wear at each end but otherwise is in very good condition.

This is a large vintage Union Jack Flag which measures 71 inches by 36 inches and is in very good used condition, with the colours very bright and fresh. It is fitted with a rope in the vertical hem with brass Inglefield clips at top and bottom. It is double stitched appliqué in a fine woollen fabric.
There are a few small holes but these do not detract from the appearance and also there is some general slight soiling due to use.
This flag in in great condition and would serve as a furnishing accessory in a variety of situations, home, halls, clubs and so on.

This is an example of an antique oriental kettle, with a hollow handle and a short spout. It is decorated with a chrysanthemum motif, both on the lid and on the body of the kettle. It has seen much use as can be seen from the photos but the imperfections are part of its history. There are some dents, and the knob on the lid is rather loose.
It is a very decorative object and would come up much brighter with cleaning if that is desired, but some prefer this kind of antique with a duller finish.
