Antique Victorian Fitted Toilet Box

Antique Victorian Fitted Toilet Box

DescriptionThis is a good quality toilet box, dating from the 19th Century.  The lid is decorated with an anchor and vine motif on the lid.  Has it perhaps naval connections, or is it an adaption of a crest of some sort? The corners of the lid are also decorated with shell shapes.  The lid is fitted with stop hinges. The interior is lined with cedar wood and contains a tray with wire handles which lifts out to reveal extra space below with one covered section.  The box is furnished with a glass box and jars with silver plated lids and there are two small ink bottles with cut glass stoppers.  There is also a framed mirror in the lid. The box has been well used and some of the velvet work shows wear.  The box has been restored and the lid repaired where there was a narrow split. Some of the sections in the tray have been made slightly smaller with the insertion of a very thin piece of wood. but this does not detract from the appearance. This is an attractive and unusual box and a great furnishing accessory. The box would be sent by Interparcel within the UK at a price of £13, this includes full insurance and tracked delivery. Personal collection is also available. Overseas customers please contact me by email to enquire about costs. This is a fairly heavy box and the charges would be quite high.    DimensionsLength 14 inches, Width 9 1/4 inches, height 6 inches  DateMid Victorian  ConditionGood  Price£295.00   342.82   $366.77
